Sheikh Toosi r.a. asked
to be fasted for the first 9 days of Muharram, but not on 10th Muharram, however,
don't take anything untill the pray time of Asr. After Asr time eat a little
Khak-e-Shifa (Dust from Kerbala).
Syed r.a. asked to be fasted for the entire month of Muharram, but not on 10th
Muharram.
Some Ulema says that the fast for 10th Muharram is Makrooh (not obliged) while
some says that it is Haram (totally prohibited).

Prophet Yousuf a.s.

Night Amaal Wake all night and
worship that is equivalent to the worship of all angels. Also narrated
that the worship in this night is equivalent to 70 years worship.
Day Amaal This is called Youm-e-Ashoor,
the martyrdom day of Imam Hussain a.s. and his companions. It is better
to mourn as much as possible. Don't do any other job, even don't go to
your office/business. Organize Majalis and Matam, same as you do when
your closest relative dies.

Most probably it is
the martyrdom day of Imam Zain-ul-Abideen a.s. in 94 Hj. |
